About Us.....

Welwyn Cricket Club was formed in 1872.

Welwyn is a small village in Hertfordshire, England.

We currently run one senior team and play all our games on Sundays. All our fixtures are friendlies.

We are a traditional Village cricket club who believe that the game should be played in the traditional way. We don't pay players to play and we really don't mind if we lose. We are more interested in playing the game for the sheer enjoyment.

We have a newly formed colts section to our club. We are bringing these young players along in those same traditions.

Although the club was formed in 1872, the history is very clouded. If any one has any information regarding the club's history, please contact us on welwyncc@supanet.com where we would be only too pleased.

As an onward link and for those Cricket purists amongst us, I have attached a page of Welwyn Cricket Club Nostalgia to this page. There are a couple of old team photos, One is from the seventies, however I am not sure of the date of the other one.

There is a balance sheet extract from the Welwyn Parish Magazine of 1923. It shows the balances for the 1922 season.....If only it was still as cheap to run a club !

Hope you enjoy them, and again if anyone has anything they wish to add to this Rogues Gallery, please let us know.
